Energy saving tips for the workplace
To date, we are really proud to have helped our customers save an estimated $2.6M in energy costs and reduced Green House Gas Emissions by over 14,000 Tonnes Co2-eq – our quantifiable reduction in environmental impact. But what are we doing to reduce our own carbon footprint and how is it reducing our electricity costs?
Here at Australian Sustainable Energy, we have implemented our own sustainability measures. In our offices, we use laptops instead of desktops, we practice in-house waste recycling and water management strategies through our Environmental management systems both in-house and on-site. We have installed energy efficient lighting in our offices. Our fleet now includes a hybrid (EV) vehicle and we have also installed a 30kW solar system on our Cairns office building which feeds a significant amount of energy back into the local electricity Grid, offsetting emissions and providing approx. 100% of our daytime energy.
We also regulate the temperatures of our Air conditioning units to ensure they are working at maximum efficiency and we also turn the systems off in cooler weather. And although it’s not always possible in an office, we are lucky to have a fair amount of natural light which also decreases the need for artificial lighting. One of the key secrets to reducing energy consumption in the workplace is by getting your employees on board to and by making small changes in their daily habits at work, it can make a huge difference to your bottom line and the environment.
By decreasing your overheads, like energy costs, you can increase your business’ profitability and all it takes is just being energy wise. If you’d like to know how much you can reduce your energy costs and become energy efficient, contact us today for a free consultation.
